Speculation being rife, or at least seeping in like so much gravy under a padlocked fridge door, apert from the usual suspects, the Chinese and Qataries( sick) ..who are the other candidates and what media driven drivel can we expect as a result of our beloved club being caterpulted into the big big big time, allegedly..??

I seem to remember sullivan looking for investors originally around a million per 1%? Given the TV money deal he's gonna get a lot more now I would think?

A China deal makes sense as the Chinese market is still pretty untapped, unlike a lot of Asia, for European football.

The two Gold daughters will probably sell out to Sullivan senior if their father pops his clogs first.

Re: The new owners.
Only this bit Frank...

Dan Roan, who made that proramme on the BBC about the OS has been saying the following:

China's stake in ManCity unlikely to be last foray into British sport. Chinese invested in Atletico Madrid in Jan. Some suspect the one Chinese would really like is West Ham (Olympic Stadium, already own nearby land). Not for sale apparently, let's see.

Also G&SO are looking for an investor rather than to sell apparently so its just people putting 2 + 2....

Nothing concrete.

Re: The new owners.
not really, all pure speculation.

Li Keiqang, the Chinese President, has told Chinese firms to get involved in sport and theyre starting to spend money. Theyre not oil people though.

City Football Group, which owns Manchester City, has announced a $400m (£265m) investment from a Chinese consortium that buys it a 13% stake and values CFG at $3bn, with Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman, stating this will “leverage the incredible potential that exists in China”.

The move from CFG is the latest step in its strategy to have a global presence. In addition to City, CFG owns New York City FC, a start-up Major League Soccer franchise, and Melbourne City FC, of Australia’s A-League, plus it retains a minority shareholding in Yokohama F Marinos of the Japanese J-League.

Yes. I'm sure I don't need to repeat my opinion of them and will let you draw your own conclusions as to why they say one thing and do another.

Re: The new owners.
Sullivan and Gold took control of the club from Icelandic firm CB Holdings in January 2010 and he concedes the club's finances would have put off most potential owners.

However, he is determined to ensure the club becomes a Premier League force in the short-term, with the long-term aim of becoming financially stable once more.

"As a business venture it made no sense at all," he added. "Not the deal we did.

"The club was 120m in debt with very few assets. It was a mess. I knew, when the Icelandics were signing the players they were for the money they were paying, it made no financial sense

"But David and I are not in it for the money. We don't want to go bust either. The aim is to make the club self-sufficient. But we want to put the best possible team on the pitch for the supporters of West Ham because we are supporters too.

"Because of the mess we inherited we have to service a 100m debt. There are commitments that have to be paid and we have to pay interest on the debt. But we also had to put the money in to put together a team that would get us promoted.

"So we are spending capital. Spending our life savings. There is no point kidding ourselves.

"Now, if the king of Saudi Arabia wants to buy West Ham we would happily step aside for the good of the club. But we wouldn't step aside for a mystery foreign buyer whose financial resources we have no knowledge of."

It seems they would sell to the right foreign owner then?
